2 years

2 years ago today I married my best friend

those eyes are amazing

We've been together for a total of 7 (albeit, sometimes very LONG) years and I have loved EVERY second of it.

In honor of our 2 year anniversary, you will now get slammed with wedding pictures. But don't worry, I throw one in of Cecelia for the cuteness factor!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this picture

It was truly the second best day of my life

The day she was born was the best day.

I love you, Jeff. You're my rock and without you, I wouldn't be the person I am today.

Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same. ~Emily Brontë

If I Should Have a Daughter.....

I found this during my nightly searching of the interwebz where I look up random things that don't matter. This, this matters.

If I Should Have a Daughter
Sarah Kay

If I should have a daughter, instead of Mom, she's gonna call me Point B, because that way she knows that no matter what happens, at least she can always find her way to me.
And I'm going to paint solar systems on the backs of her hands, so she has to learn the entire universe before she can say, "Oh, I know that like the back of my hand."
And she's going to learn that this life will hit you hard in the face, wait for you to get back up just so it can kick you in the stomach. But getting the wind knocked out of you is the only way to remind your lungs how much they like the taste of air.
There is hurt here that cannot be fixed by Band-Aids or poetry. So the first time she realizes that Wonder Woman isn't coming, I'll make sure she knows she doesn't have to wear the cape all by herself. Because no matter how wide you stretch your fingers, your hands will always be too small to catch all the pain you want to heal. Believe me, I've tried. "And, baby," I'll tell her, don't keep your nose up in the air like that. I know that trick; I've done it a million times. You're just smelling for smoke so you can follow the trail back to a burning house, so you can find the boy who lost everything in the fire to see if you can save him. Or else find the boy who lit the fire in the first place, to see if you can change him." But I know she will anyway, so instead I'll always keep an extra supply of chocolate and rain boots nearby, because there is no heartbreak that chocolate can't fix. Okay, there's a few heartbreaks that chocolate can't fix. But that's what the rain boots are for. Because rain will wash away everything, if you let it.
I want her to look at the world through the underside of a glass-bottom boat, to look through a microscope at the galaxies that exist on the pinpoint of a human mind, because that's the way my mom taught me. That there'll be days like this. ♫ There'll be days like this, my momma said. ♫ When you open your hands to catch and wind up with only blisters and bruises; when you step out of the phone booth and try to fly and the very people you want to save are the ones standing on your cape; when your boots will fill with rain, and you'll be up to your knees in disappointment. And those are the very days you have all the more reason to say thank you. Because there's nothing more beautiful than the way the ocean refuses to stop kissing the shoreline, no matter how many times it's swept away.
You will put the wind in winsome, lose some. You will put the star in starting over, and over. And no matter how many land mines erupt in a minute, be sure your mind lands on the beauty of this funny place called life. And yes, on a scale from one to over-trusting, I am pretty damn naive. But I want her to know that this world is made out of sugar. It can crumble so easily, but don't be afraid to stick your tongue out and taste it. "Baby," I'll tell her, "remember, your momma is a worrier, and your poppa is a warrior, and you are the girl with small hands and big eyes who never stops asking for more." Remember that good things come in threes and so do bad things. And always apologize when you've done something wrong. But don't you ever apologize for the way your eyes refuse to stop shining. Your voice is small, but don't ever stop singing. And when they finally hand you heartache, when they slip war and hatred under your door and offer you handouts on street-corners of cynicism and defeat, you tell them that they really ought to meet your mother.

My favorite part is in bold. It's so true it regards to our family.

People these days

Okay, I'll admit, I can be judgmental at times...who can't to an extent? (If you say you've never judged people, you're lying)
But I'm starting to get a little fed up with the looks I get from people when I tell them I cloth diaper (CD) Cecelia. I mean, really? Why is that so weird? I can see where people think cloth diapers, they think babies bleeding from being stabbed with safety pins and old school leaky plastic covers. But that is NOT how it is anymore! Yes, you can still get prefolds and can use pins, but there are now so many more options than that; All In Ones, All In 2's, Pockets, Hybrids, Fitteds and the list goes on!

And the BEST part? They're SO SO SO stinking cute!

Who can resist a cute little fluffy butt?
I sure can't!

What I think is that when people hear cloth diaper, they only think of poop, which we're parents, thats all we think about anyway. But, people don't think of the savings, and the waste that is being saved.

HERE is a calculator to show the savings you can occur by using CD's. I believe the average is about $3,000 for up to 2.5 years of wear, FOR ONE KID!!!!! Why wouldn't you want to save that money?
As far as waste goes, if a child gets changed 6 times a day for 2.5 years that is 5600 disposable diapers! Thats a crazy amount of diapers, all just getting dumped in a landfill. Crazy!

I know jumping into cloth diapering can be scary, but I'm tired of people giving me the side-eye. So I have one request, even if you don't have any intention of doing CD's at least read up on it and know that those of us who do choose to CD are not crazy!

HERE is a great place to start reading up on all the info that comes with CD's!

Oh! Well, hello there! Remember me?

I have a SUPER good reason as to why I haven't blogged in 8 years..

Yes, that would be my family. The cast of Grey's Anatomy. They are the reason I haven't blogged. If I wasn't playing and taking care of Cecelia, I was watching the drama of Grey's unfold- and I loved every second of it.

During my hiatus we took Cecelia on her first zoo trip! It was ridiculously hot out one Sunday and figured why the heck not? She was less than amused and stayed awake the whole time until we were five feet from the car on the way back.

She sat like this the entire time....

See what I mean by less than amused?

Jeff does not have a colostomy bag. Thats his gun...Yes my husband bring his gun to the zoo...pure KLASS!

In other news, my Sweet Girl turned 5 months yesterday! 5 WHOLE MONTHS! I can't believe it. 5 months ago I would have never known that my 6lb 1oz beauty would turn into a bad attitude, hair pulling, fit throwing perfect little girl (I think she's perfect no matter how bad her attitude is, by the way). Here is some cuteness; hold on to your seats, it'll blow you away!

Notice the messy house behind my blue eyed beauty? That would be Grey's fault also.

She'll be "real" crawling in no time!

She is pure love.

Now that I am all caught up on Grey's you'll be hearing more from me...as I'm sure you're all excited to know!

P.S. If you still read/lurk, please comment so I know that you all haven't abandoned me after I fell off the face of the earth! Thanks

I'm obsessed

What am I obsessed with?

1. Cloth Diapers
2. Grey's Anatomy.

First, I start with CD's.
I can't stop buying them. I am certain I will put us in the poor house with all the CD's I am buying. But who can say no to such cute fluff? I can't, that's for sure.
I really love bumGenius and Charlie Banana's, but today, I bought the Flip System. I like the idea of the hybrid diapering system, and I really liked the price, too! ($16.95!)

AWARD WINNING!
bumGenius 3.0
DELUXE All-In-One
Cloth Diapers
I bought this bumGenius in the Butternut color

Flip: Stay Dry (Individual)
One-Size Diaper Cover
Stay Dry Insert
and this Flip System in Grasshopper Green, with hook and loop closure instead of snaps

Look at that cute fluff! I think people who can resist buying CD's are strong. A lot stronger than me!

My number 2 obsession is Grey's. I can't stop watching it. I know, I know. I am behind and only on the 3rd season! But, HOLY CRAP! Intense is all I have to say. I sobbed uncontrollably during season 2's finale. (If you watch and forgot what I'm talking about, all I'm going to say is Denny. That should refresh your memory)
I think that watching Grey's should be a law. It's that good.

And my 3rd obsession (which I didn't list, b/c you should all know.)

Cecelia. I can't get enough of her sweet, slobbery, chubby face. I spend pretty much all day nom-ing on her sweet, slobbery, chubby face and I can't stop.
You know what also rocks my socks off? Cecelia and her cute butt in CD's and the fact that my daughter watches Grey's with me. LOVE.

She love it. When its on, she can't stop watching. When I turn it off and do something else on the computer, she looses all interest. I've created a monster, and I love it.

Also, here are those cheeks I was just talking out.

4 Months Cont.

Today was Cecelia's 4 Month Well Baby Visit. She was pretty tired to begin with so she wasn't the happiest baby, but she could have been far worse.

Here are her stats.

Weight: 12lbs 12.5oz (25-50%)
Length: 24in (!) (50%)
Head Circumference: 15in (50%)

She also ate 15oz in 3 hours today, so Dr. H gave us the go ahead to "start" solids, good thing since I made all of sweet potatoes and bananas.

No more swaddle. Dr. H told me a horror story of her son and a swaddling mishap. She said since she can "Houdini" herself out that its just not safe anymore, so we're trying it for the 2nd night tonight. Last night was a total fail, but since we did Cry It Out tonight (I don't care to elaborate on Crying It Out b/c it makes me sad) she isn't doing bad at all. I however, am not doing well.

Here is the result of Cry It Out the first night. As you can see, it drove me to drink.

Holy 4 Months!

I honestly feel like it was yesterday that I posted that she was 3 Months. I cannot believe I am the mother of a beautiful 4 month old baby girl! It's still so surreal.

I'm not sure her weight, as her 4 month Well Baby Visit is tomorrow, but if I had to guess I would say 13.8lbs and 22inches. I'll post tomorrow about if I'm right or not.

In honor of her turning 4 months yesterday, we are attempting her first night un-swaddled since she was a month old. Not by choice, either. She's mastered rolling since last month, but she has now figured out how to do it swaddled, and that just seems like I'm playing with fire. I know she has awesome head control and hates being on her tummy, but I'm a spaz and would rather lose sleep from her waking up once in awhile than the worst happen.

Tonight at bath time she was in her newborn tub with that weird mesh overlay, hammock thing. It's on the lowest setting and she sat up! I couldn't believe it! she leaned forward and held herself there for almost the whole bath time! That girl is going to have abs of steel in no time.

Our friend Mike and Ashley (her blog is here) came over to eat and try and help me win a little contest. As I had posted previously, we're starting the cloth diaper journey and GoGreen Pocket Diapers was having a "Thumbs Up" contest. The winner would win 2 diapers (Champ Nior and Crazy Champ). This is the photo we submitted

I'll let you know the outcome!
Also, if you're not familiar with with GoGreen, I highly suggest you check them out. Inexpensive and CUTE diapers! You can access their Facebook page here. You will not be disappointed!

And since I know you've been waiting, here are the beautiful Cecelia's 4 month pictures!
