Things change

I sit here today thinking back to one year ago.  One year ago, on March 17th, 2010, I got a positive pregnancy test.

I was terrified and shocked and excited.  So many emotions at one time.

I sit here now, one year later, wondering when my sweet little girl is going to wake up from her nap so I can smile and laugh with her.

Things change, time goes on, and I couldn't be happier with what changes have taken place for me in the last year.

Something to live by

Lately at night, Cecelia has been having trouble staying asleep and Jeff or I have to go in multiple times to soothe her back to sleep.  Sometimes we just have to pat her belly other times we have to rock her.  I catch myself getting frustrated that she wants to be held and I have plenty of things to do around the house. I stumbled across the poem that another blogger had on her blog The Littlest Nunley.  I fully intend to print out this poem, frame it and hang it by her rocking chair in her room; just so I can remind myself to cherish these little moments.

Babies Don’t Keep
by Ruth Hulburt Hamilton

Mother, O Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing, make up the bed,
Sew on a button and butter the bread.

Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She’s up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.

Oh, I’ve grown as shiftless as Little Boy Blue,
Lullabye, rockabye, lullabye loo.
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo

The shopping’s not done and there’s nothing for stew
And out in the yard there’s a hullabaloo
But I’m playing Kanga and this is my Roo
Look! Aren’t his eyes the most wonderful hue?
Lullabye, rockaby lullabye loo.

The cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow
But children grow up as I’ve learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs; Dust go to sleep!
I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.

I've never heard anything more true

Purees are Poop

At least thats what you would think I was feeding her.  Poop.  I'm not, I swear.  But by this look wouldn't you think so?

Banana's? I don't think so
and Sweet Potatoes.....
I'd rather not, thanks.

There are 3 things this girl will eat; Similac, Applesauce and Cherry Tylenol.  (I don't FEED her Cheery Tylenol, but when her teeth hurt she sucks its down like it is the only thing we feed her, and she'll never get fed again)

Everyone keeps telling me to keep offering it to her, she'll like it! She's my kid. If she doesn't "like" it she will never eat it again.  However, I do plan to keep offering it to her b/c I used my breast milk to make it. I'll be one unhappy momma if that goes to waste.  I will not win this one.

I put her hair in a ponytail today.  It was probably the cutest thing I've ever seen

The best part? She let me do it! She could have cared less, and that made me super happy! I know that won't last, so I may as well take advantage of dressing her up now, right?

Under Construction

I'm currently trying to add more "fun" to my blog.  I'm about to get very annoyed, so hopefully this won't take me TOO long.

She's a mover

Cecelia could now, I suppose be called mobile.  She is a little scooter.  Granted, its on her back, but she's still moving, right? We'll have her facing one direction and next thing we know, she's in the complete opposite direction.
She's also rolling! I'm amazed! I'm so stinkin excited! She's been trying to roll for so long now, and she finally has it!  I took a video of her trying to roll, and after I stopped recording, what does she do? Roll.  Of course I never caught it on camera.

Also, shes "sitting" like a big girl! I was told to try the boppy to practice her sitting, and whadya know?

I can't believe how big my girl is getting!  Time really needs to slow down!

Baby (food) Making Machine!

I've taken on a new task today....Baby food maker!  I had my friend Katie over (you can follow her blog here)
to make baby food for Cecelia and Caleb.  And let me tell you...

IT WAS SO EASY AND FUN!

Never in a million years would I think that making baby food is fun, but it is! I made Sweet Potatoes and Bananas and Katie made Sweet Potatoes, Apple Sauce and Bananas.  It only took us about an hour and a half to make all of it.

For those interested in making your own here is the break down:

Bananas @ $1.57/16oz = $.09 per oz (I only used 2 bananas for our food, so this is a little off)
Sweet Potatoes @ $2.98 for 2/36oz = $.08 per oz.

For a 3.5oz container of Bananas at Walgreens it is $1.99 and for a 3.5oz container of Sweet Potatoes it is also, $1.99.  I would rather take an hour and a half out of my time and save a lot of money!

All of the information I got about making my own baby food is on the website Wholesome Homemade Baby Food.  They have so much information on there its insane, its even broken down in stages and ages for baby!

Here are some picture from today!

I got 36oz from 2 sweet potatoes!

16oz from 2 bananas!

I will for sure be making tons more baby food!!

Love Thy Neighbor? No thanks

I've had some people asking me about our neighbor situation so I though instead of telling the story individually I would just type it out.  I will try and make this as short and not boring as possible.

Lloyd is our 80y.o. neighbor, actually he's not even our neighbor, he just owns the house his son lives in and goes to the house like 42 times a day.  Well Lloyds driveway is actually an easement and our house and one other house happen to sit on this easement as our driveway also; however, since its Lloyds "driveway" he is the one who has to maintain the easement and not anyone else, otherwise he would have never been able to have these other 2 houses built.  Our easement is gravel and after the rain and snow in 2009-2010 pot holes started to develop so Lloyd came over and asked us and the one other house on the easement if he had some rock brought in, would we be willing to pay $100 for the cost of the rock? No promblem, technically by law, we don't have to pay him anything, but why not, we use the driveway too.

About a week later I see rock being dropped off in sections of the easement and I actually remember thinking to myself "thats not a lot of rock at all!"  Well, I leave for work and come home to find out that Lloyd had not rocked our "section" of the driveway.  Here is a picture to show what I'm talking about:

The red square is our land and B is our house.  The blue "A" at the bottom is Lloyds house and C is the other neighbors house.  The purple is where he put rock...as you can see, he skipped our section of the driveway.

Well, I thought the reason he had not rocked our part was b/c we had not paid him yet (Thank goodness we didn't).  A few days later, Lloyd came and asked for our part of the money.  Ummm Old Man, you didn't rock our section.  His excuse was that there was asphalt on our section (there isn't) and rock would just slide off...yet he still wanted money.  NO, not gonna happen.

This was in early to mid 2010 and I just found out that he went and talked to our neighbors about how we still have not paid him (which is no surprise, Lloyd is always going over to the other neighbors house to talk about us)  He told our neighbor B that "I know Jeff would pay me, but its that wife of his that is preventing him from paying me the money for the rock; she chewed my ass one time"

Ummmm....your darn right I chewed your ass.  I still plan on chewing your ass the next time you come over and ask us for more money.

Lloyds solution to all of this? He's going to put a "fence" up around his pond (see picture above) so we can't "use" it.  He had told us when we first moved in we could go fishing in his pond.  Hey douche-canoe, there arn't any fish in your so called "pond" anyway.

I think the funny part in all of this is that anytime now, Lloyd will be putting down more rock from our winter this year....I'd like to see him come ask us for more money.

(I should also add as a side-story, that this is the man that tried to knock down branches of OUR tree on OUR property with a front loader.......yeah, we're really lucky to live here)
